Design Process

Many of our clients have been planning to build their dream home for years, and have questions about the best way to begin the process. The majority of our clients have already purchased the property they wish to build on. This allows us to custom fit their home to their land, and to maximize the setting and views that exist.

We welcome you to contact us for an initial consultation. There is no charge for this, and is the best way for us to get to know each other, and to see how well we communicate together. In this meeting, we will discuss the general parameters of your project, including your budget, your ideas, your dreams, and your goals. We will show you pictures and sketches of homes that we have designed, as well as a set of final building plans, so that you will see the level of detail and the quality that we put into our drawings. Finally, we will present you with a contract that fully explains our services, and you will be able to ask questions about pricing, time frame, or anything else that is of concern to you.

After the contract is signed and returned, we will begin the design process. The first step is to design and draw preliminary sketches of the main floors and front elevation, which will then be presented to you in our next meeting. We will then work together to fine tune the drawings to your satisfaction.

The final step is to complete the working drawings, after you approve the preliminaries. After the plans have been completed, we are available for questions, consultation, or job site visits during construction, as the client requests.
